The nominations for the GRAMMYs 2025 are here!

The nominations for the GRAMMYS 2025 were announced on November 8. Naturally, this year we are taking a special look at the nominees in the “Best Immersive Audio Album” category.

You can read below which titles from our repertoire are among the best immersive mixes this year and which albums were nominated in other categories.

Best Immersive Audio Album

Trondheim Symphony Orchestra - Henning Sommerro: Borders

Mixing Engineer: Morten Lindberg (Lindberg Lyd)

The composer Henning Sommerro draws on themes from myths and European history in his works. Three pieces for soloists and orchestra go through conflicts before they finally find a possible redemption. In the first work, Solstice, the poet Sigvat Tordsson travels to the eternal city on the summer solstice and reflects on his life and his visions.

The piece Ostara is all about the goddess of spring and the approaching equinox. Spring seems close, but the road to it is full of setbacks.

Borders brings us to our time: in 2016, a massive influx of refugees is shaking Europe. Mutual accusations and the question of responsibility are dividing the countries, while the hope of a joint solution is fading.

Producer & Mixing Engineer Morten Lindberg is also nominated in the category “Producer Of The Year, Classical”

Peter Gabriel – I/O (In-Side Mix)

Mixing Engineer: Hans-Martin Buff (Real World Studios)

After more than 20 years, I/O, Peter Gabriel’s first album with new songs since Up from 2002, was released in December 2023.

In 2023, he released a new song every month for the full moon, like individual Lego bricks that now form a complete work. The songs deal with topics such as our connection to the world, the passing of time, mortality and social challenges. Despite the pensive tones, the mood remains hopeful, crowned by the optimistic final song “Live and Let Live”.

The album offers 12 tracks in two stereo mixes (Bright-Side by Mark Stent, Dark-Side by Tchad Blake) as well as an in-side mix in Dolby Atmos on Blu-ray, mixed by Hans-Martin Buff.

I/O is also nominated in the category “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical”

Ensemble 96 & Current – PAX

Mixing Engineer: Morten Lindberg (Lindberg Lyd)

PAX is a concept in which music, texts and the sacred space of the cathedral enrich each other in these performances of new works by Norwegian composers. All composers approach the theme of peace with their own individual reflections and interpretations. The music was composed specifically to be performed and recorded as an immersive experience.

Producer & Mixing Engineer Morten Lindberg is also nominated in the category “Producer Of The Year, Classical”
