The Alpine Symphony takes the listener on a mountain hike. From setting off at dawn, up through forests, over alpine pastures and glaciers, to the summit; down again in the storm, until the day sinks in.

Tobias Melle brings these pictorial motifs in Richard Strauss’ symphonic poem to life with his photographs from the Berchtesgaden Alps. The viewer sees far more than an illustration of the music – the great mountain hike is experienced with all the senses.
