Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony is a masterpiece of classical music and has influenced generations of musicians and listeners worldwide since its premiere almost 200 years ago. Tobias Melle has developed a pictorial interpretation of the symphony that provides the listener with an additional dimension of experience. His images make the music visible and enable an experience for all the senses.

Melle undertook a journey around the world to realise his realisation and supplemented the extensive raw material with suitable images from his personal archive. The Symphony in Pictures assigns visual associations and conceptual meanings to the individual sections of the symphony and opens the view beyond all boundaries to allow the listening viewer to discover and recognise what echoes within.
