“Diamonds And Pearls” is Prince’s thirteenth studio album and marked the beginning of his collaboration with the band The New Power Generation. The album received glowing reviews and was commercially successful, with six international singles including hits like “Gett Off”, “Cream” and the iconic title track “Diamonds And Pearls”.

The reissue of the album offers an all-new listening experience with remastered tracks plus 47 previously unreleased songs and over 2 hours of live recordings from Prince’s archive. The Super Deluxe Edition contains an additional 33 previously unreleased studio recordings, including alternative versions of album tracks and songs he recorded on tour in 1990.

Before their album launch tour, Prince & The NPG performed an impromptu live concert in Minneapolis, which is now being released for the first time as part of the reissue. This concert is available in impressive 2K video quality as well as stereo, 5.1 DTS-HD MA and Dolby Atmos audio formats.

The Blu-ray also features Prince & The New Power Generation’s performance at the Special Olympics at the Metrodome in Minneapolis in July 1991 (also in stereo, 5.1 and Atmos), as well as a previously unreleased soundcheck. The Blu-ray is also complemented by the “Diamonds And Pearls Video Collection”, originally released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1993 and long out of print.

The Super Deluxe Edition is accompanied by a 120-page book containing unpublished photos and essays by various authors and experts, including Chuck D. from Public Enemy.

Overall, the “Diamonds And Pearls” Super Deluxe Edition offers a deep insight into Prince’s work during this era and his impressive creative productivity in the early 1990s.
