Description

Pink Floyd will release their iconic album “Animals 2018 Remix” on Blu-ray in Dolby Atmos Immersive Audio for the first time on May 17.

Animals is the tenth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in January 1977. It was recorded in 1976 and early 1977 at the band’s Britannia Row Studios in London and produced by the band themselves. The successful album reached number 2 in the UK and number 3 in the USA and was recorded by band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright.

Animals is a concept album that focuses on the socio-political conditions of mid-1970s Britain and represents a departure from the style of the band’s earlier work. The album was developed from a collection of disjointed songs into a concept that describes the obvious social and moral decay of society and compares the condition of humans with that of animals. Although a lot of time has passed since 1977, the album’s narrative still holds true today, as our social and economic situation reflects that of that time.

The new Dolby Atmos mix goes beyond ordinary listening by immersing the listener in the music and revealing details with unparalleled clarity and depth. The listener has the feeling of being in the middle of the song while the music moves around and over them.

The artwork of the album was redesigned especially for this release and presented in a digipak with a 16-page booklet, a sticker and a postcard. The cover image still shows the iconic pig floating between two chimneys at Battersea Power Station, designed by Roger Waters. For this new release, however, the artwork has been redesigned for the modern day by Storm Thorgerson’s Hipgnosis partner Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and Peter Curzon of StormStudios, showing the historic building as it looks today, complete with light projections that are varied in the accompanying booklet. The projections and graphics were designed by Peter Curzon for the launch of Remix 2018 and the photography is by Rupert Truman and Benny Trickett in collaboration with Aubrey Powell.
