Neil Young has been releasing albums for 55 years and there is exactly one constant, namely the fact that Young always surprises his fans. On his new album “Before And After”, Young has repainted a varied collection of mostly obscure songs like a painter with a new palette.

For “Before And After”, Young has selected a large number of his originals and favourites from his catalogue as a journey through his musical history and presents them here on the album, mostly alone, on an acoustic solo journey to a new place. The songs merge into one another and form a continuous flow that leads to a 48-minute pure and intimate listening experience. An album like no other he has ever released. The album was produced by Lou Adler and Neil Young, mixed by Young and Niko Bolas, also known as The Volume Dealers.

The new versions of the songs blend together seamlessly, shifting into new dimensions with mesmerising clarity, from his earliest Buffalo Springfield appearance Burned to the latest Don’t Forget Love (from 2021’s BARN) and including the previously unreleased song If You Got Love.
