Steven Wilson releases his seventh album with “The Harmony Codex”. Listening to “The Harmony Codex”, you have the feeling of losing yourself in an Escher drawing that consists only of sound. In the album’s ten tracks, Steven Wilson navigates through a jumble of memories and leads the listener along paths where shadows of reflection, thoughtfulness and melancholy spread out.

The album was conceived and composed by Wilson, working alone in a studio in the garage of a north London townhouse, backed by musicians from around the world (including long-time studio partners such as Ninet Tayeb, Craig Blundell and Adam Holzman, as well as a number of first-time collaborators such as Jack Dangers of Meat Beat Manifesto and Sam Fogarino of Interpol). Each musician was invited to put their individual stamp on the album. The snares, strings and sampled sounds contributed by each artist were woven together to create a unique sound.

And although “The Harmony Codex” is a record that was created with spatial sound in mind, it’s not a record that needs a sophisticated sound system to get carried away – two speakers and an open ear are all you need.
