Bayreuth Festival 2022: “Götterdämmerung” is the climax and conclusion of the provocative new production of Wagner’s “Ring of the Nibelung” by the young Austrian director Valentin Schwarz. Wagner’s epic cycle becomes a saga of a dysfunctional modern family whose individual characters he follows over generations. Cornelius Meister conducts a brilliant cast of famous Bayreuth icons (Iréne Theorin, Albert Dohmen) and new stars (Clay Hilley, Elisabeth Teige).

The new “Götterdämmerung” can now be experienced in a set of 2 BluRay videos. Three sound formats are available, including Dolby Atmos. As a bonus, there are eight podcasts in which the plot of the four Ring operas is told in English and in German as read by Valentin Schwarz – in German by the acting stars Jens Harzer, Martina Gedeck, Sylvester Groth and Dagmar Manzel.
