With “A Charlie Brown Christmas” in 1965, Vince Guaraldi created one of the best-selling jazz recordings of all time – an unmistakable sound universe that reinterprets Christmas classics such as “O Tannenbaum”, “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing” and “What Child Is This” with jazzy-meditative ease and created its own standards with the timeless original “Christmas Time Is Here”. The album is a Grammy Hall of Fame-Inductee (2007) and part of the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress (2012).

This Super Deluxe Edition is the most comprehensive release of the album ever. The focus is on a new 2022 stereo mix created by engineer Paul Blakemore directly from the original 3-track and 2-track master tape sources. Disc 1 presents this new mix along with the original 1965 stereo mix. Discs 2 through 4 offer a unique look at the album’s creation process, from the first takes to rehearsals and the final recordings, with over 50 first-released outtakes from five recording sessions in September and October 1965.

The Blu-ray Audio Disc delivers the 2022 mix in hi-resolution LPCM stereo as well as a Dolby Atmos mix that spatially unfolds Guaraldi’s trio sound in all dimensions. The set is housed in a high-quality 59-page hardcover book and includes new liner notes by Peanuts historian Derrick Bang.
