Description

“Takk…,” Icelandic for “thank you,” is Sigur Rós’ fourth studio album and was released in September 2005. Recorded at the band’s own Sundlaugin studio near Reykjavík and produced in collaboration with Ken Thomas—in their third and final collaboration—the album marked the Icelandic band’s international breakthrough and remains their best-selling work to this day.

With the singles “Glósóli,” “Sæglópur,” and especially “Hoppípolla”—which later became world-famous after being featured in the BBC nature documentary “Planet Earth”—Sigur Rós reached a new, broad audience and shaped the band’s distinctive sound, which shifts between rock, ambient, and classical influences.

To mark its 20th anniversary, “Takk…” is being released on Blu-ray in a new Dolby Atmos mix as well as in high-resolution 96 kHz/24-bit PCM stereo, both based on the remaster created by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in 2025. The album is supplemented by B-sides from the *Takk* era as well as previously unreleased recordings, all in high-resolution stereo, along with music videos remastered in HD, the short 2005 documentary, a new “making-of” documentary, and a 60-minute live recording from Reykjavík.
