Queen’s debut album, a powerful debut from 1973, meets the soundscapes of today: Queen I Blu-ray Audio presents this milestone in a comprehensively reworked form. The original, recorded in 1972 and quickly certified gold in the UK and US with classics such as “Keep Yourself Alive” and “Liar,” forms the basis for a sound experience that has been redefined by modern audio technology.

At the heart of this release is a Dolby Atmos mix (2024) created from scratch. According to Brian May, this mix is more than a remaster—it is a complete reinterpretation. The goal was to give the album a previously unattainable sense of space and vitality with many fresh details in the sound. Brian May and Roger Taylor closely supervised this process as executive producers. In addition to the immersive Atmos sound, the Blu-ray also includes a high-resolution stereo version (96kHz/24bit) of the new mix. The stereo backing tracks (96kHz/24bit) are also available for a deeper insight into the compositions. As a bonus for connoisseurs and newcomers alike, the song “Mad The Swine” is included, supplemented by a 12-page booklet with background information. The challenging task of mixing the new versions was carried out at Abbey Road Studios by a team led by Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J Macrae, Kris Fredriksson, and Lewis Jones.
