On October 9, 2020, the day on which John Lennon would have celebrated his 80th birthday, an elaborately produced anniversary edition will be released, which combines only the greatest highlights of his solo career: GIMME SOME TRUTH. THE ULTIMATE MIXES
Produced by Sean Ono Lennon, with Yoko Ono Lennon acting as Executive Producer, the 36 songs of the edition, personally selected by Yoko and Sean, have been completely remixed: the result offers the ultimate listening experience for Lennon fans. In fact, it never sounded as stunning as it does here.
GRAMMY Award-winning sound engineer Paul Hicks, who had already worked on Imagine – The Ultimate Collection in 2018, is once again responsible for mixing the edition.
Once again, he will be supported by sound engineer Sam Gannon. In order to achieve the best possible sound quality, the original tapes were all transferred and cleaned up, and the new mixes were created from them. After weeks of preparation, the final versions were made at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles, using only original analog technology from the time of creation. The analog mastering process then took place at London’s Abbey Road Studios, where Alex Wharton ensured that the songs were given the best possible, most authentic sound just in time for the anniversary.
124-page book, designed and edited by Simon Hilton, producer and production manager of the Ultimate Collection series. The book features the story of all 36 songs in the words of John & Yoko, along with other contributors in the form of archive and brand new interviews. Illustrated with hundreds of previously unpublished photos, Polaroids, film stills, letters, lyric sheets, tape boxes, artwork and other finds from the Lennon/Ono archives.
