“Aqualung” is Jethro Tull’s fourth studio album and was released in 1971 as the band’s international breakthrough. In the line-up of Ian Anderson (vocals, flute), Clive Bunker (drums), Martin Barre (guitar), John Evan (piano, organ) and Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond (bass), an album was created that combines harder rock songs with quieter, acoustic passages and is still considered one of the most formative works of progressive rock today.

With titles such as “Aqualung”, “Cross-Eyed Mary”, “My God”, “Hymn 43” and “Locomotive Breath”, the album is often attributed a conceptual character, especially through its critical examination of organized religion – a classification that the band itself has always contradicted.

This Blu-ray presents “Aqualung” for the first time in a new Dolby Atmos mix created by Steven Wilson, supplemented by revised 5.1, stereo and instrumental mixes. In addition, there is the original quadrophony mix from 1974 as well as numerous outtakes and previously unreleased recordings from the original sessions – including early versions of individual songs, which give a rare insight into the making of the album.
