Description
With “Head Games”, Foreigner’s third studio album was released in 1979 – a multi-platinum work that sealed the band’s rise to the first league of arena rock. Driven by hits like “Dirty White Boy” and the title track, the album climbed to number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and has now secured 5x platinum in the USA.
To celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary, “Head Games” will be released as a four-part super-deluxe set: The focus is on a newly mixed stereo remaster of the original album, supplemented by a second disc with 16 outtakes, rough mixes and alternate versions from the recording sessions – including the previously unreleased track “Trouble”, recorded in May 1979 at Atlantic Studios New York, for which Peter Frampton contributed a new guitar solo. The third CD delivers a complete, previously unreleased concert from the Head Games tour on October 27, 1979 from the Rochester Community War Memorial – with classics such as “Cold As Ice” and “Feels Like The First Time”.
The crowning glory is Blu-ray Audio with a new Dolby Atmos mix of the studio album as well as the stereo remix in high-resolution. The immersive Atmos mix opens up a new spatial dimension to Foreigner’s sound universe and allows you to experience the energy of these recordings in a completely new way. The overall project was supervised by Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson and long-time producer Wyn Davis; a new essay by music journalist Ken Sharp documents the history of the album’s creation.
