Die Toten Hosen are a phenomenon. Formed in the early 1980s in a bubbling Düsseldorf scene from the punk movement, their concerts have been filling large halls and stadiums for many years.

Even if you’re not an avowed fan of the band, you can sing along to many of their songs. And Campino, Breiti, Kuddel, Andi and Vom, who joined later, have always maintained their attitude – an attitude that reflects the punk ethos. Always with a strong opinion on social developments, which they express publicly without denying that music is also a business.

Filmmakers Cordula Kablitz-Post and Paul Dugdale accompanied Die Toten Hosen on tour in 2018. Kablitz-Post developed the concept, filmed the background stories and conducted the interviews, while Dugdale documented the shows.

In “Weil du nur einmal lebst – Die Toten Hosen auf Tour” (Because you only live once – Die Toten Hosen on tour), they show very personal images that make the phenomenon of “pants” tangible – a phenomenon that the band may not be able to fully explain themselves.
