Max Cooper´s audio-visual album Emergence on Pure Audio Blu-ray

This conceptual electronic album is a story of the creation of the universe. Specifically “the story of the development of the universe, the way in which very complex things like human beings were created from the immaterial by the action of simple laws.” Though the concept is abstract in nature a lot of its creation is derived from scientific research. Max Cooper himself has a PhD in computational biology and worked as a geneticist at UCL. Emergence is comprised of 25 compositions across five acts: Fundamental Natural Form, The Physical Universe, Life, Civilization, and The Digital Age/Future. The story starts before the big bang and leads to industrialization as tempos and rhythms pick up. Deeper through the chapters it explores futuristic concepts.

“It is not supposed to be a rigorous scientific presentation of ideas, the project is my own interpretation of the modern scientific story, told through visual art and music, with a focus on those ideas that I find most interesting and revealing.” – Max Cooper

Equally as impressive are the visuals that go with each track. Though  these visuals are not needed on every listen they are very concept invoking for the beholder. We may even dare to say that these are some of the best visuals we have seen. Essentially a 90 minute animated film that ties perfectly with the electronic music.

This re-release is on Pure Audio Blu-ray too. The full HD film is accompanied with Dolby Atmos sound. The idea was to create a 3-dimensional soundscape with height as well as surround sound. The immersive sound experience with high definition audio is the best way to experience this conceptual adventure.
