With Lizard, King Crimson presents a work that is still considered one of the band’s boldest and most unpredictable releases. Originally released in 1970, the album combines complex song structures, jazzy improvisations and surrealist lyrics to create a musical synthesis of the arts that was far ahead of its time. In the 2025 edition, this musical border crossing is now reworked with care and technical sophistication. <\/p>\n

The focus is on a remastered stereo remix of the album by Steven Wilson, who once again proves his sense of balance between sonic transparency and respect for the original. The accompanying CD includes this new version, as well as a selection of Elemental Mixes, created by David Singleton, that illuminate selected passages of the album from an alternative sonic perspective. The Blu-ray delivers the sonic highlight of the edition and presents the album in several first-class audio formats for an immersive listening experience. In addition to the new Dolby Atmos Mix, which gives the multi-layered material a spatial depth, there is a 5.1 surround mix in DTS-HD Master Audio format and the high-resolution stereo mix in 24bit\/96kHz. The Elemental mixes and the original master (30th Anniversary Edition) are also included in Hi-Res quality, as are the full studio recording sessions, which give deeper insights into the album’s genesis. <\/p>\n

This re-release from Lizard allows for a completely new listening experience. Not only through the technical implementation, but also through the way the album is made to be experienced in a new way. It is a worthy update for a work that has lost none of its fascination in its idiosyncrasy and innovative spirit. <\/p>\n
